Wales & West Housing supports Urdd Eisteddfod

Scores of children across South & West Wales have been given the chance to visit the Urdd National Eisteddfod 2017 thanks to Wales & West Housing.

The organisation has sponsored several schools in Bridgend, Ceredigion and Carmarthenshire by donating free tickets for their pupils to attend this year’s national youth event at Pencoed, near Bridgend.

The sponsorship has allowed more children to support their classmates who are taking part in the festival from 29th May to 3rd June 2017.

Schools benefitting from the sponsored tickets are Ysgol Cenarth, Ceridigion; Ysgol Penboyr Drefach Felindre, Carmarthenshire; Ysgol Gymraeg Bro Ogwr, Brackla, Bridgend and Ysgol Gynradd Gymraeg Cwm Garw, Pontycymmer, Bridgend.

The extra tickets meant that more pupils from Ysgol Gynradd Gymraeg Cwm Garw were able to attend the Eisteddfod  to cheer on the school’s rock band at their performance on Monday 29th May.

WWH’s Chief Executive Anne Hinchey said: “With the Urdd Eisteddfod being held in Bridgend this year we were delighted to be able to do something to support Welsh speaking and non-Welsh speaking young people in the communities around our housing schemes. By sponsoring tickets we hope that children who might not have been able to afford to visit the Urdd Eisteddfod will be able to join in.”

“We wish all the children competing in the Urdd National Eisteddfod every success and hope everyone visiting the Maes has a great time.”
