South Wales: Penarth Extra care
Work has started on our latest extra care scheme, a development of 70 affordable, self-contained apartments in Penarth, Vale of Glamorgan.
The £20m scheme is being built in partnership with Vale of Glamorgan Council on a 3.6-acre site near Myrtle Close in the seaside town.
Residents will be able to live independently in their own homes within a caring, supportive community and will have access to tailored on-site care and support.
We have signed a long-term lease on the land from the Council, paving the way for the next stage of the development.
🏗️ The development will be completed by Welsh contractor JG Hale Group
⏱️ Due for completion in 2026
💷 Energy bills will be kept affordable thanks to energy efficient apartments with high levels of insulation
🏢 Built over three storeys, all apartments will have balconies
Other facilities include:
🍽️ On-site restaurant
🛋️ Communal lounges
🧺 Laundry
🏡 Access to a central courtyard, dementia-friendly garden for residents
The building will be fitted with solar panels to generate power for the communal areas and reduce its carbon footprint.
It is being built alongside Oak Court, our existing older persons’ housing scheme, and Tŷ Dewi Sant, a dementia-friendly care home operated by the Council.
