“Ein lle cyntaf i’w alw’n gartref”

Mae teuluoedd yn setlo i mewn yn eu cartrefi newydd ym mhentref Maenclochog, Sir Benfro. 

Symudodd Catrin Davies, sy’n siaradwr Cymraeg, a’i dwy merch, i mewn i un o’r 11 cartref newydd yng Nger Y Lein Fach, Maenclochog ym mis Rhagfyr.  

Gweithiodd Tai Wales & West (WWH) mewn partneriaeth â TRJ Ltd, y cwmni adeiladu o Rydaman, i adeiladu’r tai a’r byngalos 2 a 3 ystafell wely ar dir gerllaw tafarn y Globe yn y pentref. 

Datblygwyd y cynllun mewn partneriaeth â Chyngor Sir Penfro ac fe’i ariannwyd yn rhannol gan Grant Tai Cymdeithasol Llywodraeth Cymru. 

Dewiswyd enw’r datblygiad, Ger Y Lein Fach, gan ddisgyblion o’r ysgol gynradd leol ac fe’i ysbrydolwyd gan y lleoliad, sydd gerllaw hen reilffordd. 

Dywedodd Catrin:“Rydw i’n gweithio yn y pentref, ac mae fy chwaer a’i theulu yn byw yn y pentref hefyd, felly mae’n lleoliad gwych i ni fel teulu.” 

“Roeddem yn byw gyda fy rhieni ar eu fferm nhw, a oedd mewn lleoliad anghysbell.  Trwy symud yma, gall fy merched weld eu cefndryd a’u cyfnitherod yn amlach.” 

“Mae’r tŷ mor gynnes, mae’r ystafelloedd yn fawr ac mae’r ardd yn braf.  Bydd ein bywyd yn llawer haws yma.”

“Lle i’w alw yn gartref” yw sut y disgrifiodd Bethany Jenkins, sydd ar fin cael baban, a’i gŵr Cory, eu tŷ newydd.  Symudodd y teulu i mewn ym mis Rhagfyr hefyd, ac maent ar fin cael eu pedwerydd plentyn.  “Rydym wedi bod yn byw mewn caban pren yng ngardd fy mam am bedair blynedd, felly mae’n braf cael lle y gallwn ei alw’n gartref ein hunain.” 

Dywedodd Michelle Engleman “na allai gredu’r peth” pan gerddodd i mewn i’w thŷ 2 ystafell wely gyda’i merch tair oed, Leia. 

Magwyd Michelle ym Maenclochog ac mae’n gweithio i fusnes arlwyo a digwyddiadau lleol.  Dywedodd:  “Roeddem yn byw gyda fy nhad, felly bydd hi’n braf cael ein lle ein hunain.”

“Rydym wedi cydweithio’n agos gyda Chartrefi Dewisedig Sir Benfro i neilltuo’r cartrefi i bobl sydd â chysylltiad lleol ac y maent eu hangen fwyaf. 

“Mae’n lleoliad prydferth a thawel yn ardal Mynyddoedd y Preseli, a mawr obeithiwn y bydd pawb a fydd yn symud i mewn yn hapus ac yn ddiogel.” 

Families are settling into their new homes in the Pembrokeshire village of Maenclochog.

Welsh speaker Catrin Davies and her two daughters moved into one of the 11 new homes at Ger Y Lein Fach, Maenclochog in December.

Wales & West Housing (WWH) worked in partnership with Ammanford-based construction company TRJ Ltd to build the 2 and 3-bed houses and bungalows on land close to the village’s Globe Inn.

The scheme was developed in partnership with Pembrokeshire County Council and was part-funded by a Welsh Government Social Housing Grant.
The development’s name Ger Y Lein Fach was chosen by pupils from the local primary school and was inspired by the location which is close to a former railway line.

Catrin said: “I work in the village, and my sister and her family also live in the village, so it’s a great location for us as a family.”

“We were living with my parents on their farm, which was remote. By moving here my daughters can see their cousins more often.”

“The house is so warm, the rooms are big and the garden is nice. We are going to have a much easier life here.”

“A place to call home” is how mum-to-be Bethany Jenkins and husband Cory described their new house. Pregnant with their fourth child, the family also moved in in December. “We’ve been living in a wooden lodge in my mum’s garden for the last four years, so it’s nice to have a place we can call our own home.”

Michelle Engleman says she “couldn’t believe it” when she first walked into their 2-bedroom house with her three-year-old daughter Leia.

Michelle grew up in Maenclochog and works for a local catering and events business. She said: “We were living with my dad, so it’s going to be nice to have our own space.”

“There is a great need in Maenclochog and surrounding area for secure permanent homes that local families, who live or work in the area, can afford to rent and heat.”
